Tensions remained high after the World Cup final ended, with Paredes at the center of an incident involving Spanish players.
The Argentine midfielder, who had come on as a substitute in the second half, did not handle his team’s loss to Spain well.
As players from both teams were shaking hands after the final whistle, Paredes shoved Eric García, prompting Gavi to immediately intervene and demand an explanation from his Argentine teammate.
The situation briefly got out of hand, with Paredes also moving toward Gavi, while Enzo Fernández, who had already been sent off in extra time with a second yellow card, also got involved in the incident. The intervention of cooler heads prevented the situation from escalating further, and tensions subsided a few minutes later.
