Real Madrid crushed Leipzig 4-1 in their final warm-up match before El Clásico. Inter got off to a winning start, while LASK secured a historic victory against Ioannidis and Vagiannidis.

Real Madrid – Leipzig 4-1

Real Madrid did what was expected against Leipzig, crushing them 4-1 and appearing to step up their game ahead of Sunday’s (10/25) Clásico against Barcelona. Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 44th minute, who picked up the rebound after a shaky save by the opposing goalkeeper and scored his first goal in the white jersey. In the 52nd minute, it was Güler’s turn to find the back of the net into an empty goal, when he tapped the ball over the line off a header assist from Kylian Mbappé.

In the 83rd minute, the Frenchman switched roles from playmaker to finisher when he struck a stunning shot that found the side netting. Two minutes later, Leipzig pulled one back with a goal by Gomis to make it 3-1, but Real had the final say. In the 87th minute, Diomande struck a thunderous volley from inside the box and put the icing on the cake for Real’s 4-1 victory, as the team showed its… teeth ahead of their next European match against AEK.

Inter – Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0

It was a tense, hard-fought match, but a 10-man Inter managed to secure its first points in this year’s Champions League with a 1-0 home victory over Shakhtar Donetsk. The Nerazzurri started the match stronger, but quickly saw the Ukrainians even things out, with a rather lackluster first half ending scoreless. The home team’s troubles continued into the second half and came to a head in the 68th minute, when Barella was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the span of two minutes! Nevertheless, a spectacular pass by Mkhitaryan in the 77th minute set up Carlos Augusto for a one-on-one, and he sent the ball into the net, saving his team.

Sporting Lisbon – LASK 2-3

A historic first Champions League victory for LASK, who prevailed 3-2 on the road against Sporting Lisbon! The match started perfectly for the home team, which took the lead in the fifth minute on a penalty kick by Suárez, but the Austrians equalized within ten minutes with a powerful shot by Lang. In fact, they didn’t stop there, as in the 63rd minute they took the lead with a curling shot by Kalajić following a counterattack, and five minutes later, Danek made it 3-1 with a shot from inside the box! The Lions managed to pull one back in the 89th minute with Suárez’s second goal but had no further response, with Fotis Ioannidis having come on as a substitute in the 80th minute.

Club Brugge – Lens 3-0

Following their big win in Milan, Club Brugge made it two wins in a row, securing a 3-0 home victory over Lens. It looked as though the first half would end scoreless, but that changed in the third minute of stoppage time, when Vanaken scored from close range after the opposing goalkeeper made a save. The Belgians added a second goal in the 50th minute, with Seys finding the back of the net on his second attempt, while in the 72nd minute Forbs finished the play perfectly to seal the victory for his team.

Betis – Feyenoord 1-0

Betis remains undefeated in the Champions League, having defeated Feyenoord 1-0 and posted a 3-0 record in the competition, which has propelled them to 5th place in the Champions League standings. After a scoreless first half, the Andalusians struck in the 59th minute, when Isco converted a penalty kick to set the final score at 1-0, a result that also pushed the Dutch side just outside the top 24.

Aston Villa – Viking 3-1

Aston Villa remained on the winning track, defeating Viking 3-1 and continuing their strong run in Europe. The English side took the lead through Barkley in the 23rd minute, before he made it 2-0 in the 37th minute with a well-taken penalty kick. In the 62nd minute, a own goal by Hegheim made it 3-0 for the Villans and essentially sealed the three points, with the Norwegians merely pulling one back in the 84th minute through Christiansen and remaining with just one point after the first three matchdays.
