Chelsea celebrated its first victory in three matches, crushing Bournemouth 5-1 at home and putting a smile back on its face, returning to action in emphatic fashion following the international break.
The match got off to a dream start for the Londoners, as Henderson opened the scoring with a superb shot in the second minute, while seconds later, Silva inadvertently sent the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a cross from João Pedro. The Cherries tried to respond, but the first half ended without any further changes to the score.
The next goal came in the first minute of the second half, as the Blues came out strong again and made it 3-0 in the 46th minute with a nice shot by João Pedro from inside the penalty area. This time, however, the visitors managed to pull one back when the ball struck Evanilson after a clearance and found the back of the net, making it 3-1 in the 51st minute.
Nevertheless, there was no comeback in sight, as João Pedro scored again from close range in the 67th minute and Henderson extending the lead to 5-1 with a stunning free kick three minutes later.
Kostoulas’s Brighton Unstoppable
Brighton celebrated a big away win; despite playing with one fewer player for much of the match, they defeated Sunderland 2-0 and climbed to third place in the Premier League standings. Babis Kostoulas was a starter for the winners and was substituted in the 61st minute.
The first half was evenly matched, with both teams having their chances but failing to convert them into goals, resulting in a scoreless tie at halftime. The 1-0 lead finally came in the 53rd minute, with Brighton taking the lead on a curling shot by De Keper but being reduced to ten men four minutes later due to Strauk’s red card.
The Black Cats pressed for the equalizer, having a numerical advantage, but not only did they fail to score, they also conceded a second goal to Hatzam in stoppage time.
A Thrilling Draw at “Villa Park”
Aston Villa and Brentford shared the point in their matchup at “Villa Park,” which ended in a 2-2 draw. The Londoners took the lead in the 10th minute with a goal by Jarmoluk, but two minutes later, Aston Villa responded with a goal by Jackson. In the 77th minute, McGinn put Brentford ahead, but Brentford responded immediately with a goal by Ajer two minutes later, sealing the 2-2 draw that kept Brentford in the top four of the Premier League.
Late Comeback for Ipswich
Ipswich celebrated a great victory, turning the match around with two goals in the final minutes against Fulham to secure a 2-1 victory that lifted them to 9th place in the Premier League. The Londoners had opened the scoring in the 55th minute with a goal by Sessegnon and seemed to have the win in the bag, but they collapsed just before the final whistle. In the 88th minute, specifically, Ouattara tied the game at 1-1, before O’Shea sealed the comeback with a spectacular goal to make it 2-1.
