A few days after wrapping up his impressive run with the Mexican national team at the 2026 World Cup, Hilberto Mora achieved yet another significant personal milestone. The 17-year-old midfielder graduated from high school, proving that he can balance soccer and education at a high level.
The young star, who was one of the tournament’s biggest revelations, completed his studies at the German College Cuauhtemoc Hank in Tijuana, where, according to Mexican media, he was among the top students in his class, with a particular aptitude for mathematics.
During the graduation ceremony, the teachers spoke with great emotion about the students, with the emcee saying: “When you become famous, successful, or we see you on the news, never forget your teachers.”
The school had publicly supported Hilberto Mora throughout the World Cup, posting messages of support for his student, who was one of the standout players on Javier Aguirre’s team.
Alongside soccer, the 17-year-old continues to focus on his studies, as he plans to attend university, while learning English in anticipation of a possible transfer to Europe. Several clubs from the Premier League and Spain are already closely monitoring his situation, however, he cannot leave the Mexican league until he turns 18, with the upcoming winter transfer window considered the most likely time for his big move.
These days, he is enjoying his vacation before returning to the Tijuana Cholos, where his coach is Sebastián “Loco” Abreu.
Guillermo Ochoa also made a special public post, congratulating his young compatriot on his graduation.
“Congratulations, Morita! I’m so happy to see you achieve yet another goal. Enjoy this moment, because the journey is just beginning and you still have many dreams to fulfill. Keep learning, keep working, and keep being the wonderful person you are. “Soccer comes and goes quickly, but everyone remembers a good person,” wrote the veteran goalkeeper.
Hilberto Mora’s response was just as touching: “Thank you, Don Memo. I love you.”
