Spain has seen its win of the 2026 World Cup turn into an economic triumph as well, since FIFA will award the “Roja” a sum never before awarded for a World Cup. De La Fuente’s team, following its 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final in New York, will receive 43,300,000 euros, the largest bonus ever awarded to a tournament winner.
Runner-up Argentina will receive 28,600,000 euros, while third-place England will boost its coffers by 25,100,000 euros. France, which finished fourth, will receive 23,400,000 euros, continuing the upward financial trend seen in recent tournaments.
The quarterfinalists secured amounts ranging from 15,600,000 to 17,300,000 euros, while the round of 16 yielded between 10,400,000 and 13,000,000 euros. In the round of 32, the participating teams received between 9,500,000 and 10,400,000 euros, while even participation in the group stage secured between 7,800,000 and 8,700,000 euros.
The 2026 World Cup thus proved to be not only historic for Spain but also the most lucrative tournament in the competition’s history.
