With the voting for the 2026 Ballon d’Or now complete, Lamine Yamal has once again risen to the top of the bookmakers’ list as the favorite to win the award. The 19-year-old Barcelona star has overtaken Harry Kane, who until a few days ago had a clear lead in the predictions.
The deadline for submitting votes expired on Monday. The 100 journalists from around the world (one from each country ranked in the top 100 of the FIFA rankings) have already cast their votes, and we are now counting down to the awards ceremony, which will take place on October 26 in London.
Yamal now has a 45% chance of winning, compared to 42% for his rival from Bayern. Neither player has ever won soccer’s top individual award.
Yamal won the league title with Barcelona and the World Cup with Spain, and he is also a nominee for the Best Young Player award.
