The list of male and female athletes who will receive support through the #TowardsLA, in order to support their efforts to qualify for the “Los Angeles 2028” Olympic and Paralympic Games.
After reviewing the 60 applications submitted to the Management Committee—a record number since the program’s inception—13 athletes were selected. Nine of them were already included in the program’s plans for 2025, while the rest were added for the current year.
The following athletes will continue to be part of the program: Anastasia Eleftheriou (Shooting—Skeet), Evangelos Charalambous (Taekwondo), Marilena Makri (Sailing – ILCA6), Natasa Lappa (Sailing – iQFOiL), Petros Andreou (Taekwondo), Petros Christodoulides (Judo), and Savvia Hatzicharalambous (Kayak Sprint), as well as Andreas Doulappas (Paratriathlon) and Andreas Beros (T38 Para-athlete).
New members include Valentina Savva (Track and Field – Hammer Throw), Giannis Antoniou (Judo), Styliana Ioannidou (Track and Field – High Jump), and Zanet Michaelidou (Judo).
The goal of the #TowardsLA program is to expand Cyprus’s Olympic team for the “Los Angeles 2028” Olympic and Paralympic Games. Through the program, every possible form of assistance is provided to the participants—whether financial, logistical, or anything else needed to achieve this major goal.
It is worth noting that in addition to the 13 athletes selected for the program, since last year, assistance has also been provided to certain other male and female athletes, whenever deemed necessary by the management team of the #TowardsLA Sports Responsibility Program.
