Monaco appears to be considering parting ways with Paul Pogba, as reports suggest the club’s management has not been satisfied with his performance on the team.
The 33-year-old signed a contract last summer that runs through 2027, but recurring injuries have significantly limited his playing time, with him having appeared in just six matches.
The “Monegasques” have already informed the former Manchester United player that he is not part of their plans and wish to terminate his contract. Now, the ball is in the Frenchman’s court, as he must decide the terms under which the “divorce” will be finalized.
Pogba had been sidelined for about 18 months due to the suspension imposed on him for the doping case. It’s worth noting that on November 22, his club gave him his first minutes of playing time after 26 months of inactivity.
Pogba came on as a substitute in the match against Rennes in the 85th minute, and although Monaco suffered a heavy 4-1, the Frenchman’s appearance marked his grand return to the field.
Pogba’s return to action made headlines across major European news networks, as French soccer welcomed back its “prodigal son” after 811 days, following his doping suspension while playing for Juventus in September 2023.
The international midfielder had initially been handed a four-year ban in February 2024 after testing positive for DHEA, a substance that increases testosterone levels. His suspension was reduced to 18 months following a successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
