The legend of Panathinaikos and Greek basketball, Dimitris Diamantidis, made an appearance for yet another year at the AegeanBall Festival in Syros, and speaking to COSMOTE TV, he discussed, among other things, how he views the new era for the “Greens,” following Obradović’s arrival.
Here’s what he said in detail about Panathinaikos’s new era:
“I think a man has arrived whom we all loved, with whom we had a wonderful time, found joy, and were moved. I believe that with a man like him at the helm, Panathinaikos’s days will be better. It won’t be easy; there’s a lot of work to be done. The past is the past, and now a new chapter begins. Those who love Panathinaikos will be there to help the club achieve its goals.”
He also made a personal reference to his own current playing condition and concluded with a look back at the past, noting how the pressure he experienced as a player for “clover” affected him:
“Thank God, I’m fine. The pressure weighed on me—a lot, actually. My heart knew it. I don’t think there’s a player who doesn’t feel pressure on the court. However, it made me better; it makes all of us better. The pressure comes out during the game, so you can become better, so you can improve—because that’s the only way you’ll make progress.”
