A report by “Krepsinis” in Lithuania stated that Jonas Valančiūnas has already signed a two-year contract with Žalgiris, bringing his NBA career to a close.
However, the veteran center was quick to deny any rumors of a deal with his home country’s club.
“You wake up and see that everything has been decided for you—I don’t have to do anything. Thanks, journalists,” he commented on social media, making his position crystal clear!

Valanciunas had reached a verbal agreement with Zalgiris to move to Kaunas if he didn’t receive an offer from the NBA.
The 34-year-old continues to explore the NBA free-agent market and wants to fully evaluate all available options before officially deciding to return to Europe.
Last season, Valančiūnas was the Nuggets’ backup center behind superstar Nikola Jokić. The Lithuanian played in 69 games and averaged 8.4 points on 60.4% shooting from the field, 30.8% on three-pointers, and 76.8% from the free-throw line, along with 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 13 minutes per game.
