What did Emmanouil Karalis do in Lausanne!
The Greek champion jumped 6.16 meters at the Diamond League and set a new personal best on the outdoor track, in yet another great moment in his already impressive career.
Manolo had failed on his first attempt at 6.16 m, but he didn’t let that deter him. On his second attempt, he successfully cleared the bar and erupted in celebration, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd in Lausanne.
In fact, the achievement is made even more remarkable by the fact that Mondo Duplantis, who had cleared 6.16 m on his first attempt earlier in the competition, was present in the stands and on the track. The Swedish superstar applauded Karalis for his tremendous effort.
The 6.16 m is now Karalis’s career-best outdoor mark, as his previous personal best had been 6.08 m.
The Greek pole vaulter, however, has already cleared even greater heights in 2026. His all-time personal best remains at 6.17 m, a mark he set at the Panhellenic Indoor Track and Field Championships in Paiania.
