In recognition of an error in Diego Maradona’s previous medical examinations—which, however, pertained to his father, who has been deceased since 2015— "Swiss Medical" has taken action.
We recall that this error led to a one-week postponement of the trial regarding the death of “Dieguito.” The error was identified by a defense attorney following a hearing that had extensively discussed Maradona’s history of kidney disease.
The court ordered the seizure of medical records and test results to verify this specific mix-up; however, the trial is now proceeding.
In fact, the court has stated in advance that a possible confirmation of the error “will not invalidate the other evidence” regarding Maradona’s medical history, nor “the conclusions reached by the interdisciplinary medical committee” regarding the case.
“The trial will proceed as scheduled. We are convinced that we will reach the same outcome without taking into account the conclusions of the nephrologist, who was misled” by Swiss Medical’s error,” Marcelo D’Angelo, the attorney for Maradona’s daughter, Gianna—who is a civil plaintiff in the case—told AFP.
