On the victory over Omonia on May 29: “I think, based on what we’ve seen so far, they’re a tough team to beat. The good news for us is that we overcame that hurdle. It was our second away win in as many games. It was very important for us that we managed to get back to winning ways immediately and head into the break with a better mindset. In terms of play, we had the upper hand. We weren’t able to build on our lead or score a second goal, and we conceded the equalizer. We missed a lot of chances, but fortunately for us, Bajic didn’t miss with five goals to go. Beyond that, yes, they were a team that gave us a hard time. They had their moments and earned our full respect.”
On the current standings: “Nothing can be taken as definitive. This is a situation we’re all facing for the first time. We were joking around with the coaching staff—we played on Friday and will play again in 24 days.”
On the break due to national team call-ups: “We need to keep the team on its toes. The players were given a few days off. We’ll be back in training on Thursday. On Sunday, we’ll play our first friendly against Nea Salamina, behind closed doors. After that, we’ll play our second friendly at the Arena, open to the public as usual, against Apollon. This is a situation we should have been able to win before the break. Now it’s up to the coaching staff, so that we can ‘breathe fresh air,’ as the coach said, bring other players into the mix, and return to league play after 24 days while continuing to improve.”
On Seyes: “Every coach is different. It’s about how he approaches the team. It’s important that as soon as he arrived, he found plenty of options. Aside from the goalkeeper, the rest of the team was well-structured.”
On the matches: “It’s expected that when the league resumes, everyone will be ready for action.”
