Three Cypriot cyclists took their places at the starting line of the Women’s Road Cycling Final at the “Taranto 26” Mediterranean Games, on a demanding 77.7-kilometer course, with 32 athletes competing.
Our athletes fought hard until the very last meters and tried to keep up in the final sprint, but they were unable to stay with the leading group.
The top Cypriot finisher was Ekaterina Kovaltchuk, who completed the race in 2:08.22, placing 20th.
Andri Christoforou finished a little further back, also with a time of 2:08.22, in 22nd place.
Styliana Kamilari was unlucky, as she encountered a technical problem with her bike early in the race. The problem prevented her from keeping up with the leading group, but Styliana didn’t give up; she continued to the finish line and completed the race in 28th place, with a time of 2:19.57.
In a short while, Bogdan Zabelinski, Andreas Miltiadis, and Christodoulos Achhas will compete in the Men’s Road Cycling race.
