There have been significant developments regarding Mario Hezonja’s future at Real Madrid.
According to foreign media reports, the Croatian forward appears quite dissatisfied with the latest reshuffles and changes within the “Merengues” ranks, with the Spanish media speculating that he could be on his way out!
Specifically, “backdoorpodcast” notes that “Super Mario” made no secret of his annoyance at the club’s decision to reinstate Juan Carlos Sánchez as GM, effectively sidelining Sergio Rodríguez and Martinas Pocius. At the same time, the dismissal of Sergio Scariolo from the coaching staff also played a major role in the player’s stance, as the veteran star holds the Italian coach in high regard.
Thus, it seems unlikely that Hezonja will see out his contract, which runs through the summer of 2029, as his intention is to push for a change and leave Real Madrid with the goal of returning to the NBA!
In fact, his contract includes an NBA buyout clause worth $850,000, which remains in effect until the end of July.
