Shortly after 1:00 a.m., Kervin Ariaga landed in Athens to finalize his transfer to AEK. The 28-year-old star from Honduras (1.91 m), who can play both as a midfielder and a center back, will undergo medical exams today and then sign a four-year contract (through 2030).
AEK has already reached an agreement with Levante for his transfer for 3 million euros, and he will most likely be registered on the team’s European roster as a substitute (replacing Sahabo) ahead of the matches against Levski Sofia. After all, the international star has already completed a full preseason in Spain and is in good physical condition.
Last season, he made 27 appearances, scored 3 goals, and recorded 3 assists in LaLiga. He has 42 caps for his national team and has scored 4 goals.
Ariaga began his career in his home country and in 2022 transferred to the MLS and Minnesota, racking up 65 appearances and 6 goals in one and a half seasons. In the summer of 2024, he was sold to Partizan for 500,000 euros, making 21 appearances in half a season before being loaned to Zaragoza, where he made 17 appearances and scored 1 goal in Spain’s second division. Levante bought him in the summer of 2025 from Partizan for 500,000 euros, and last season he was a starter for the Spanish team in LaLiga.
AEK’s transfer activity is not complete with this move, as the club will definitely sign a left back, while the possibility of João Mário’s return—or even another addition—remains open.
