It was a rough start for Imanol Alguacil on the Olympiacos bench.
OFI defeated the Piraeus side 1-0 at “G. Karaiskakis Stadium,” in what has been the biggest upset of the season so far, handing them their first domestic loss of the year.
The Cretans were tactically superb, “shutting down” all of the “Red-and-Whites’” attacking threats and posing a constant threat themselves, scoring two goals that were disallowed for offside.
The third time was the charm, with Kontros scoring the winning goal off an assist from Athanasiou.
This marks the second consecutive loss of points for Olympiacos, which risks falling significantly behind early in the title race, while OFI has now overtaken them in the standings.
