Jean Montero is an Olympiacos player…
However, before agreeing to join the Red-and-Whites, he was reportedly very close to signing with Barcelona.
According to today’s report in “Sport,” Barcelona had begun talks with the player’s representatives and had even come very close to securing a “yes,” with only the signing of the contract remaining.
However, the report adds that the deal was never finalized because Xavi Pascual had another option. The former Barcelona coach preferred to sign Mike James instead. So they let Montero slip away, and team officials began negotiations with the American star.
Ultimately, we should note that James didn’t end up joining the Spanish team either, as Pascual left the bench and Barcelona’s management decided not to formalize the agreement that the two sides had reached.
