Olympiacos lived up to its status as the favorite and advanced to the Stoiximan Super Cup final with a 93-80 victory over AEK in the first semifinal of the tournament at the “Andreas Papandreou” Indoor Arena in Peristeri.
The “Red-and-Whites” controlled the game from the very beginning and even built a 20-point lead (46–26) midway through the second quarter.
AEK fought back and managed to cut the lead to 9 (46-37), a pattern that repeated itself in the second half, when the score went from 70-47 to 72-60 and from 81-64 to 82-75. Each time, however, Olympiacos regained control and ultimately secured the victory.
The top performer for the winners was Doda Hall with 19 points and 7 rebounds, but the most decisive player was Jean Montero, who stepped up in the fourth quarter when AEK closed the gap and sealed the win, finishing with 19 points and 5 assists. Sasha Vezenkov and Tyler Dorsey each scored 14 points. For AEK, Giorgos Tsalmbouris stood out with 18 points.
Now, Giorgos Bartzokas’s team is waiting to find out who its opponent will be in tomorrow’s final (September 27, 8:00 p.m.), which will be determined by the Panathinaikos AKTOR vs. PAOK match (9:00 p.m.).
