The draw for the Champions League group stage paired AEK with the tournament’s flagship team, Real Madrid, with AEK set to host the “Queen” in Nea Filadelfia!
Consequently, the Serbian website Mozzart Sport, in honor of AEK’s clash with Real Madrid, created a striking graphic depicting Marko Nikolić and José Mourinho in a chess match with the Acropolis in the background, while Luka Jović and Kylian Mbappé watch them, with Konstantinos Argyros’ song “My Athens” by Konstantinos Argyros.

“Marko Nikolić could hardly have drawn a worse matchup in the Champions League, as AEK will have to face Real Madrid, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, and Roma. And as if that weren’t enough, the draw placed the Greek champions alongside Galatasaray in one of the weaker groups, but also included a real “dark horse” from the final group: Como. “The feeling is that AEK will have the best chance of securing a victory against Shakhtar Donetsk, which will play its home games at Stamford Bridge,” Mozzart reported, among other things.
