The Formula 1 prodigy was the big winner of the Sprint Race at Silverstone!
Kimi Antonelli celebrated his first Sprint victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, delivering an outstanding performance on the iconic and historic British Grand Prix circuit.
The 19-year-old Italian Mercedes driver started from second on the grid and, with patience and maturity, managed to capitalize on the strengths of the W17 to cross the finish line first, leaving the “home favorite” and seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, in second place, 2.745 seconds behind.
In the 17-lap mini-race, the drivers pulled off numerous impressive passes, with Lando Norris emerging victorious from the back of the pack to finish in 3rd place—even though he had started the Sprint Race from sixth!
Rounding out the top eight in the standings were George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri, and Liam Lawson, while Antonelli, with the 8 points he earned, increased his lead in the drivers’ standings to 43 points over his teammate and second-place finisher, Russell.
