Real Madrid is proceeding to activate the €9 million buyback clause for Nikos Paz, officially notifying Como of the young midfielder’s return to its roster.
However, the Madrid club is giving the Italian team a short window until Monday to re-sign him for a fee of approximately 60 million euros. If Como does not proceed with the purchase, then the 21-year-old will return to Real Madrid as scheduled next week and will once again be put up for transfer, with his price potentially exceeding 60 million euros.
Paz had an impressive season with Como, playing a decisive role in the club’s historic run in the Champions League, a feat that skyrocketed his market value and prompted an immediate response from Real Madrid.
Paz’s rise is considered remarkable in European soccer, with his future remaining open despite his immediate return to Madrid.
