There is intense discontent among the ranks of both Aris and Heraklis, as well as among the fans of both teams, following Yiannis Vroutsis’s decision to ban all fan travel ahead of Saturday’s match.
From the very beginning, the Greek Police had expressed their opposition to the organized travel of Heraklis fans to the “Kleanthis Vikelidis” Stadium, citing security concerns and the need for the match to proceed smoothly.
Consequently, the final decision was referred to the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yiannis Vroutsis, who also rejected the request. As a result, neither organized nor individual travel by Heraklis fans to Thessaloniki will be permitted.
This development has caused intense dissatisfaction on both sides, as Aris and Heraklis had agreed to allow visiting fans to attend their matches against each other, both in the first-round match and in the second-round match.
In fact, this agreement had raised expectations for a derby with fans from both teams in the stands. However, the government’s decision ultimately leads to a different scenario, with Heraklis fans unable to be there to support their team.
