The Netherlands is reportedly considering the—rather unexpected—candidacy of Roberto Martínez for the head coaching position of the national team.
At least that is what a related report states, noting that a meeting has already taken place between Federation officials and the Spanish coach in Málaga.
In fact, a potential agreement between the two sides would mean that Martínez would become the first foreign national team coach in the history of the “Oranie” in over 50 years.
As a reminder, the 53-year-old coach stepped down from the Portuguese national team following their elimination from the recent World Cup and a 1-0 loss to Spain in the round of 16.
Martínez also took over the Portuguese national team in 2023 and led them to victory in the Nations League in 2025.
