Although the WNBA has made it clear that Enes Kanter cannot play in the league by declaring himself eligible for the draft, the Turkish center is insisting on doing so. He has launched a protest campaign against the participation of transgender athletes in women’s sports, and his move is clearly seen as an attempt to make a splash.
“Article 13 of the WNBA’s bylaws states that anyone who identifies as a woman can play in the WNBA. I am a woman; they should allow me to play.”
She also mentioned being ejected from a WNBA arena, where she was yesterday. “In the third quarter, Sophie Cunningham took a shot, and I raised my hand to celebrate. Natasha Cloud saw me and, on the next possession, shouted, ‘She’s not going to sleep with you.’ I told her, ‘I’m not trying to sleep with her. I’m here to protect women and support my friend.” She kept yelling and cursing at me. Right after that, security came and threw me out. I asked them, “What did I do? She’s the one who should be kicked out of the game.”
