It’s now official. Giannoulis Larentzakis is returning to AEK—the club where he won the first titles of his career and laid the groundwork for becoming a key member of the national team.
Seven years after he last wore the yellow-and-black jersey, the 33-year-old star is returning to AEK to play under the guidance of Dragan Sakota. The deal was finalized for three years, with total earnings reaching 2.3 million euros, including bonuses, making it one of the most significant contracts Makis Angelopoulos has signed during his tenure at AEK.
Larentzakis is coming to strengthen the team’s Greek core and provide an additional scoring option, while AEK acquires a player who has the ability to change the flow of a game simply by being on the court. This could help the team and play a decisive role in its performance in Greece and Europe.
With AEK, Larentzakis won three titles during his first stint with the club. In 2018, he celebrated winning the Greek Cup and the Champions League, while in 2019 he lifted the Intercontinental Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Now, he is preparing for his second stint with the yellow-and-blacks, aiming to add even more titles to his career.
In the video posted by AEK BC, Larentzakis was welcomed by Nikos Nesiadis, the 1968 European Cup winner, the 1981 Greek Cup champion, Nikos Apostolidis (president of SPACA), and “Moikanos” Giorgos Agiassotelis, all members of the SPACA-AEK Board of Directors.
