André Luís is now officially a Sporting Kansas City player, with the MLS team announcing his signing from Olympiacos and calling it a record-breaking transfer. Reports indicate that the U.S. team will pay 16.5 million euros for the Brazilian winger, while bonuses are expected to bring the total cost of the transfer close to 20 million euros.

At 24 years old, he fits our model of adding quality players to our roster who still have their best years ahead of them. André was highly sought after in some of the world’s top leagues, so we’re thrilled that he’s decided to commit his long-term future to Sporting Kansas City.”

“Sporting Kansas City has acquired 24-year-old forward André Luís in a club-record transfer from the Greek team Olympiacos. Luís, who joins Sporting as a designated player, has signed a five-year MLS contract through the 2030–2031 and will occupy an international spot on Sporting’s roster, pending the receipt of his visa and International Transfer Certificate.
Luiz, the fifth player Sporting has signed as a designated player since early 2018, will arrive in Kansas City after an outstanding season in Europe, where he won the Portuguese league title with Rio Ave, scoring seven goals and six assists in the first half of the season, before finishing the 2025–2026 season with Greek powerhouse Olympiacos.
His form in Portugal earned him a transfer to the Greek powerhouse Olympiacos in January 2026, where he immediately made his mark on his debut by earning a dramatic penalty in the 106th minute, as Olympiacos earned a 1-1 draw against AEK in the local derby on February 1, 2026.”
