The most expensive transfer in the history of Greek soccer is now official! Olympiacos has officially announced the signing of Gustavo Puerta, paying the €16 million buyout clause to Santander, while the total cost of the transfer will reach 20 million euros.
The 23-year-old World Cup midfielder signed a four-year contract with the Piraeus club and will be a key asset for Mendilibar, strengthening the midfield and the entire “red-and-white” squad.
A player of exceptional caliber, whom the Olympiacos organization managed to convince to come to Greece to play for them, raising the bar even higher for the season!

Olympiacos FC announces the signing of Gustavo Puerta. The Colombian international midfielder was born on July 23, 2003, and was acquired from Racing Santander, for whom he has started in three La Liga matches this season. With the Cantabrian club, he has made a total of 36 appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
Our team’s new signing began his career in his hometown of Bogotá, and in 2023 he transferred to Germany to play for Leverkusen (10 appearances). During the 2024–2025 season, he played for Hull City (31 games, 1 goal).
Puerta has earned 11 caps with the Colombian national team and was a starter in all of their matches on their run to the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.
