Morten Hjulmand will be a resident of Madrid—and officially so—from today (July 11) until the summer of 2031.
With Atlético announcing its agreement with Sporting Lisbon to acquire the rights to the Danish midfielder for €40,000,000, and will pay an additional five million euros in the form of performance bonuses.
At the same time, the “Rojiblancos” offered Hjulmand a five-year contract, showing him that they are counting on him as a key player in their long-term plans.
The 27-year-old midfielder has made a total of 141 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists while wearing the “Lions’” jersey; the club signed him in the summer of 2023 from Lecce.
In fact, Hjulmand also served as Sporting’s captain during their two consecutive Portuguese league titles in the 2023–24 and 2024–25 seasons.
