Panathinaikos has officially added another key player to its roster. The “Greens” announced the signing of Anas Salah-Eddin, who will play for the team next season on a one-year loan from Roma.
We remind you that the deal includes a purchase option for next summer. It is not mandatory (i.e., based on appearances), but Panathinaikos has the option to activate it, and the contract would be for a four-year term.
The 24-year-old defender was born in Amsterdam and took his first steps in soccer at the Alkmaar academy before moving to Ajax. He made his professional debut with Ajax during the 2021–22 season, and the following season he was loaned to Twente.
His performances at Twente established him in Dutch soccer, and after his return to Ajax, the club permanently acquired his rights in January 2024. For about a year and a half, he was a key player for Twente, delivering outstanding performances in both the league and European competitions.
His performance did not go unnoticed by Roma, which in February 2025 invested more than 8 million euros to sign him. Last season, he returned to the Netherlands on loan to PSV Eindhoven, with whom he celebrated winning the league title.
At the international level, Salah-Eddin played for the Dutch youth national teams before choosing to represent Morocco. He made his debut with the national team on November 14, 2025, and participated in both the Africa Cup of Nations and the recent World Cup, playing an active role in his team’s performance.
Salah-Eddin played against Brazil, Haiti, and the Netherlands, among others, and started in the quarterfinal match against France.
