With tensions running high on the island due to the allegations against Manchester City, the team’s president, Kaldun Al Mubarak, sought to reassure the fans with a letter.
The first major “bombshell” appears to be shaking the very foundations of Manchester City in a case that has been at the center of attention in English soccer for years.
According to reports that have come to light, the club was found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges it faced regarding financial irregularities, a development that is sparking intense debate in the UK.
This news has caused an uproar in England, with “Citizens” fans following developments with great anxiety and waiting for the situation surrounding the case to become clearer.
Here is the full text of Kaldoun Al Mubarak’s letter:
“I have been a member of this club for 18 years. I’ve had the privilege of standing with you at the Etihad, at Wembley, and in Istanbul. This club means a lot to me, and you have shown me and told me—time and time again—just how much Manchester City means to you. That is why I am writing to you today.
Following the media reports on Friday, many of you spent the evening answering questions and messages from friends, family, and colleagues. I did the same. This is what I told my family: The Premier League process still has a long way to go, and our conviction—as well as our determination—to prove the club’s innocence remain just as strong as when this whole process began.
There are so many things I wish I could share with you so that you might understand why we feel so confident in our position. However, the strict confidentiality that governs the legal process, as well as our determination to respect it, means that I cannot do so at this time. Even this letter has undergone several legal reviews to ensure that it complies with the relevant requirements.
I ask that you carefully read the statement below, which we published on Friday, as well as the statement we issued in February 2023 (also below). Every word matters and remains true.
Although some have been quick to jump to their own conclusions and there is so much noise surrounding us, nothing has changed. We have faced challenges together in the past and emerged victorious. There are still many who want to undermine our club’s momentum. We won’t give them that opportunity.
We have some exciting moments ahead of us after the break for national team duty. In two weeks, we’ll travel to Anfield, and then we’ll host Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium—moments that give us the chance to celebrate the strength of the Manchester City family.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Club Statement – Friday, September 25, 2026
The Premier League process is still ongoing, with significant issues pending and subject to strict confidentiality. As such, Manchester City FC’s position remains consistent with the club’s statement issued in February 2023.
The club has consistently respected the due process of justice for eight years, based on the expectation that the Premier League’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee would act as an independent, impartial, and fair regulatory body, free from any biased influence.
Club Statement – February 2023
Manchester City FC expresses its surprise at the filing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Regulations, particularly given the extensive cooperation and the vast amount of detailed material that has been provided to the EPL.
The club welcomes the review of the matter by an independent committee, which will impartially examine the full body of irrefutable evidence available to support its position.
“We therefore look forward to a definitive resolution of the matter, so that this case can be put to rest once and for all.”
