Karolina Muchova pulled off one of the biggest upsets of this year’s Wimbledon, defeating Coco Gauff 6-2, 1-6, 7-6(10) in a thrilling semifinal and advanced to the second Grand Slam final of her career.
The Czech player got off to an excellent start and easily took the first set 6-2, but Gauff fought back impressively, leveling the match with a decisive 6-1 victory and sending the contest to a third set.
There, the two players fought a fierce battle, with the match going to a super tie-break. Mouhova took a 6-3 lead, but the American staged a comeback and reached match point at 9-8.
The 29-year-old, however, did not falter. She saved Gauff’s match point and, with three consecutive points, completed a remarkable comeback, celebrating one of the most significant victories of her career.
This was Muchova’s second victory over Goff in 2026, having already defeated her earlier in the season, ending a six-match losing streak against the American.
In Saturday’s final, Muchova will face either Linda Noskova or Marta Kostyuk, competing for the first Grand Slam title of her career.
