The Greek national team will take the field without Giannis Konstantelias in its September Nations League matches. The attacking midfielder and PAOK captain announced in an Instagram post that he will not be available for the “blue-and-whites’” upcoming matches.
The Instagram story: “After much thought, I’ve decided not to be available for the national team’s upcoming matches.
With a young child at home and a second one soon to join our family, I feel that this is the right decision for me and my loved ones at this time.
I want to thank the entire Hellenic Football Federation for the honor, the support and love they have given me and continue to give me, and the respect they show for my personal decision.
I remain fully committed to my development, my competitive goals, and my responsibilities and aspirations as a professional soccer player.
Thank you all for your understanding.
Yiannis Konstantelias.”
