It’s back to action in the EuroLeague, with the second “double-header week” of this season kicking off tonight with the first games of Round 5!
The first tip-off of the night will take place at 8:45 p.m. in Istanbul, where Fenerbahçe will host Žalgiris. The home team will look to get back on track after their heavy loss on the road against Panathinaikos, a game that saw their winning streak come to an end. On the other hand, the Lithuanians are riding high after their road victory over Barcelona, which improved their record to 2-2.
A little later, at 9:00 p.m., the match between Villeurbanne and Red Star will tip off—two teams that are also at 2-2— while at 9:30 p.m., four games will tip off, including Panathinaikos vs. Partizan.
Barcelona will host Maccabi Tel Aviv, looking to get back on the winning track after their loss to Zalgiris, while the Israelis are coming off their first EuroLeague win of the season, a 97-79 victory over Armani.
The Milan team finds itself in a difficult position, coming off back-to-back losses to Baskonia and Maccabi, with Italian media reporting that Poeta is under intense pressure and naming Sfairopoulos as the most likely candidate to replace him as the team’s head coach. Tonight, they will face Real Madrid, which started this year’s EuroLeague with three consecutive losses, but last week managed to secure its first win, defeating Partizan 86-76 in the Spanish capital.
