Apollon’s press officer, Fanourios Konstantinou, gave an interview to “SPOR FM 95.0” and discussed everything related to the Limassol-based team.
Specifically, he referred to the away victory over Bran as well as the rematch. He emphasized that the players, under Losada’s guidance, are showing encouraging signs and then discussed the team’s plans.
He declined to comment publicly on Joel Asoro, who is expected to be announced shortly, while he emphasized that the remaining roster issues will be resolved today and tomorrow.
As for Leonidas Konomis’s injury, he said they are awaiting the results of the medical tests later today.
Here is a detailed account of everything he said
On the match against Brann, he said: “We traveled to Norway for a good result that would give us a better chance. The team rose to the occasion and performed well, even though we’re operating at about 70% capacity. We had some players out, but the team was well-prepared. We were in danger at certain points, which was to be expected, but we managed to contain Brann’s attack and are returning to Limassol with a positive result.”
On going 3-for-3 without conceding a goal: “It shows a team that has worked hard on its midfield defense. Of course, statistics don’t always tell the whole story, but we’re showing the qualities of a great team. Now we’re looking ahead to Tuesday’s game—a match that starts from scratch and will be a tough battle.”
On the core lineup and the players’ improvement: “We played an excellent game for the first 35 minutes. Maintaining the core lineup helps the team’s progress. At the same time, we can see that this is a very hard-working team; all the players are giving their best, like Zenonos and Andreou when they came into the game. Konomis was outstanding for yet another game.”
On Konomis: “He underwent tests yesterday, and we’re expecting the results today.”
On Asoro: “I don’t want to comment until there are official announcements. Ugbo will be available; he’s been added to the European roster. It’ll be a tough battle up front, as Ozobolt is in excellent form, and I believe he’ll have an impressive season. His duels all over the field and his striker’s instinct are key factors.”
On the remaining roster issues: “All outstanding issues will be resolved today and tomorrow.”
On tickets for the rematch: “We’ve sold over 4,500 tickets, and I’m sure that number will grow. The stadium will be packed. Season ticket holders have until 3:00 p.m. to reserve their tickets. I want to say a big thank you to the fans who traveled to Norway. We know how difficult the trip was, and as a small token of our appreciation, Tuesday’s ticket will be free for those fans.”
On PAOK vs. Anderlecht: “We watched the game. PAOK did themselves a disservice; they completely dominated Anderlecht early on, but that’s just how soccer goes. First, though, we’re focusing on our own match.”
