Apollon’s press officer, Fanourios Konstantinou, spoke to “SPOR FM 95.0” about everything related to the Limassol team.

He discussed the team’s first official match of the season against Dila Gori, the current state of play, the draw, and the latest transfer news.

Here is what he said in detail

Regarding today’s trip: “The team departs from Larnaca today at 7:00 p.m. bound for Tbilisi, aiming to secure an advantage ahead of Tuesday’s second leg at the “Alfamega Stadium.” We’ll have close to 200 fans traveling with us. There was no official fan trip organized. The team will provide the tickets as a token of appreciation for the fans traveling to Georgia. We’ll issue an announcement on how to obtain the tickets.”

Regarding tickets for the rematch: “For those who have season tickets for the new season, admission to next Tuesday’s game is included as part of their benefits.”

Regarding team meetings and practices: “We’ll provide an update later today.”

On the lineup: “I think Gaspar has a chance to make the starting lineup; Ozbolt will be on the roster—he’s been following a regular training schedule for days now. He’s definitely behind in terms of fitness since he missed training sessions in the Netherlands. Gary Rodrigues has also joined the team, and I think the squad is ready for battle. We’ll also be making two signings: a center forward and a winger. The team is on the right track. Rodrigues will be ready for the rematch.”

On Aïbou: “The team spent a great deal of money; after the difficult news regarding Goldson, we focused on signing this particular player. The process took some time because he was under contract with Sturm Graz. He’s a player with all the qualities needed to excel in our team’s colors. He’s also in very good shape.”

Regarding fans’ concerns about a striker: “The fans are right. We understand that too. It’s not exactly easy to sign a center forward; transfer fees have skyrocketed, which makes it difficult for the team. The financial situation is not what it was in previous years. It’s become quite difficult to find a player who meets both our financial constraints and the team’s needs.”

On the draw: “It’s a tough draw. Brașov had an excellent season last year and pulled off some big wins. Our first game against Dila takes priority. Of course, Craiova is also in the mix, but whoever our opponent may be, we’ll prepare accordingly.”

On Golzon: “As of yesterday, we hadn’t had any direct contact. We understand that the situation has improved. There’s no way we’ll sign another defender; we’ve already spent a lot of money on three players. We’re still looking for a forward and a winger.”
