AEK’s 5-1 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium has diminished its chances of advancing in the Champions League.
After the first set of matches in the third round of the group stage, Marko Nikolić’s team dropped to 27th place in the standings.
According to Football Meets Data, the Greek champions are projected to finish in 29th place with an estimated 7.6 points (while the qualification threshold is estimated to be 10 points, or 9 points in the event of a tie).
AEK is given a 26.8% chance of making the Top 24 and securing a spot in the playoffs, while it has just a 0.5% chance of making the top eight, which leads directly to the Round of 16.
