Germany-Greece: A tough away game for the “blue-and-whites” after their big win in Serbia

A tough challenge lies ahead for the Greek national team following its big “double” victory over Serbia. The Greek national team faces Germany (9:45 p.m.) in the second match of Group 2 in League A of the Nations League.

Group standings:

Greece 3 (2-1)
Germany 1 (1-1)
Netherlands 1 (1-1)
Serbia 0 (1-2)

Greece’s goal is to build on the momentum it gained from the “Raiko Mitic” to put up a competitive fight against Klopp’s team, and a positive result would be most welcome.

Greece is coming off a remarkable “away win” in Belgrade, where it prevailed 2-1 after coming from behind against the team led by Jović and Živković. The national team found itself down just four minutes into the game, missed several chances afterward, but in the final stretch did what it had to do: Tzolis equalized in the 74th minute and Douvikas scored the “golden” goal in the 90th+5 minute.

Of course, their task is very difficult, as Germany is determined to redeem itself, since the 59-year-old coach’s debut on the bench did not result in a victory (a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands).

“Our game in Serbia had many positives, but we need to make some adjustments. Germany and the Netherlands are on a different level, and we must not repeat some of the mistakes we made in Belgrade,” noted the 64-year-old coach.

The former Liverpool manager praised our national team: “This
may be the golden generation of Greek soccer. Their attack is their strong point. They’re fast and well-coordinated. That’s their biggest advantage,” noting that “I have great respect for the Greek national team.”

Germany (Jürgen Klopp): Ter Stegen – Treu, Ta, Bisk, Braun – Enmeza, Kimmich – Adeyemi, Gnabry, Furi – Emnoutalib.

Greece (Ivan Jovanović): Tzolakis – Vagiannidis, Mavropanos, Retsos, Tsimikas – Kourbelis, Zafeiris – Karetsas, Kostoulas, Tzolis – Pavlidis.

Referee: Chris Kavanagh (England)
Assistant Referees: Dan Cook and Alex James (England)
Fourth Official: Thomas Bramal (England)
VAR: Andrew Dallas (Scotland) and AVAR: Andrew Madley (England)
