Contrary to rumors that he was dissatisfied with the less-than-competitive car his team is currently providing him, Max Verstappen has extended his contract with Red Bull through 2030.
The four-time Formula 1 champion’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of 2028, and he is said to have held talks with McLaren earlier this year about a move for 2027.
“I’m really pleased with the contract extension. We have the best people on the team, and I’m excited to continue working with everyone to get back to the top,” said the 29-year-old driver, who is currently in sixth place in the Drivers’ Championship and 110 points behind Kimi Antonelli ahead of this weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix.
“That remains the ultimate goal we’re all working toward, and we’ll continue to pursue it. I want to thank Red Bull for the trust they’ve shown in me,” he added.
