With the international break currently underway, Lamine Yamal gave an extensive interview in which, among other things, he spoke about the Ballon d’Or.
The 19-year-old Spaniard is once again a contender for the award this year, though he doesn’t think it would be unreasonable for anyone to believe that either Lionel Messi or Rodri deserves it this year.
At the same time, the young star acknowledged that there are several players who could contend for the prestigious award.
For last season—which will determine the winner of the coveted award— Yamal, in a total of 45 appearances for Barcelona, scored 24 goals and recorded 18 assists.
Here is what Lamine Yamal had to say about the Ballon d’Or:
“If someone thinks that Messi or Rodri deserve the Ballon d’Or, that’s an opinion worthy of respect, and it’s not unreasonable. There are many great players who have reasons why they might be considered favorites. Everyone has their own opinion, and I want to respect that.”
