Dimitris Giannakopoulos sent a clear message regarding the sales of Jenti Osman and Vasilis Toliopoulos, making it clear that they were not made for financial reasons. As the head of the Panathinaikos Basketball Club said, there will be no place on the team for anyone whose top priority isn’t being on the roster.
“Didn’t you hear that Toliopoulos also left because of bankruptcy? Well, to put an end to this fairy tale, anyone whose primary goal isn’t to play for today’s Panathinaikos—regardless of minutes or role—and who believes they won’t be adequately compensated based on their resume or contribution won’t have a place on the team. “You haven’t realized who’s back… You haven’t realized what Panathinaikos means when it’s fully mobilized,” DPG stated via Instagram.
As for the sale of Osman, he responded sarcastically to a comment: “Why didn’t we just go ahead and have a 63 million budget? We decided to cut back to 60 so we wouldn’t have to sign a star player—and so you’d have something to comment on.”
