In a post on his social media accounts, the owner of Panathinaikos BC, Dimitris Giannakopoulos, offered his own commentary on the events that took place in Como on Monday and Tuesday regarding the EuroLeague conference.
DPG accompanied his post with a photo of himself with CSKA President Andrei Vatutin, emphasizing that the Russian team must return to the competition.
Here is his message in full: “Some teams were opposed to the NBA’s expansion… The only logic behind this view is either that they’re doing well today, or that they know they have no future because they already know they haven’t been selected to participate in the expansion—or both.
What I’d like to point out is that, above all, CSKA must return because, despite the rivalry on the court—where they are fierce opponents—Real Madrid, Panathinaikos, and CSKA are the heart and soul of European basketball. Without them, there is no true EUROPEAN CHAMPION.
Congratulations to the EuroLeague management on the event… TOP-NOTCH!”
