Fenerbahçe coach Sarunas Jasikevicius attended the EuroLeague Head Coaches Congress in Athens, held at the T-Center, and in his remarks, he mentioned, among other things, to Željko Obradović and his return to Panathinaikos.
Specifically, he emphasized that the sight of the “Greens” bench with “Zoc” as their coach is perfectly natural, as he feels that Zoc never really left.
He also commented on his team’s loss to Olympiacos in the EuroLeague semifinals, and did not fail to mention the rise of Aris and PAOK.
Here is what he said in detail:
On the Serbian coach’s return to Panathinaikos: “It’s only natural to picture Zeljko on the Panathinaikos bench. I’ve had that image in my mind for many years, which is perfectly normal. It’s as if he never left.”
On the loss to the Red-and-Whites: “We weren’t at our best. It was just one game. I don’t think Olympiacos was anything special that day, but we were even worse. It’s hard to play your whole season’s worth of games in a single match, but that’s how it is for everyone.”
On Aris and PAOK: “Vasilis wanted to be closer to his family in Greece. He took on one of the most promising projects in European basketball. It’s going to be exciting. The same goes for PAOK. Greek basketball has revolved around these two teams for over ten years. It’s a great development for Greek fans. Thessaloniki has an incredible basketball community. They’ve been waiting for this for so long. It’s definitely going to be exciting.”
