Lazio moved, albeit temporarily, to the top of Serie A following yesterday’s 2-2 draw against Milan, however, they played once again in front of nearly empty stands, as their fans continue their boycott against the club’s management. Gennaro Gattuso commented on this situation in his own, always distinctive, way.
“Here, the fans have poison in their veins. Woe to anyone who messes with the team—they go berserk. Everyone would love to come to the Olimpico. If they accompanied us from Formello all the way to the stadium, it’s because they see the players wearing the jersey with pride. I was moved seeing the crowd that showed up, even the elderly fans: soccer without fans is crap—you’re better off taking your dog for a walk. “We have to work hard, and then we’ll see what happens. It’s not easy to play here; it’s like during the COVID era, with capacity at 20–30%,” said the Italian coach.
