According to a report in France, Omonia has reached an agreement with Haitian center back Jean-Kevin Duvern.
He is a player who competed in the 2026 World Cup and spent the last three years with Nantes, with whom he had a contract for one more year, but is leaving as a free agent, according to reports.
The 27-year-old played on loan at Kortrijk in 2025 and at Gent last season.
The report states: “A new development, as expected, for the ‘Canaries.’ With one year remaining on his contract, defender Jean-Kevin Duvern (29) has been permanently transferred to a Cypriot first-division team: Omonia Nicosia.
The Haitian soccer player, who had joined Nantes in the summer of 2023, had been loaned out twice to Belgium: to Kortrijk (from January to June 2025) and to Ghent (for the entire previous season).
The player, who competed in the World Cup this past summer with Haiti, started on the left side of FC Nantes’ five-man defense a week ago during the team’s final preseason friendly (also known as “Canaries”), which they won 5-1 against the Qatari team Al Wakrah.
The departure of a player capable of playing on the left side of the defense will further reinforce coach Michel Der Zakarian’s desire to sign a left back. On Thursday at noon, during a press conference, he repeatedly stated that he wanted to sign such a player.”
