UEFA has featured a special mention on its website regarding the Japan U-17 National Team’s visit to Cyprus this coming October for friendly matches.

The Japan U-17 National Team will play three friendly matches in Cyprus, alongside the first-round mini-tournament, in Group 13 of the qualifying round for the 2026/27 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.
The matches are part of a cooperation agreement between UEFA and the Japan Football Association, aimed at supporting the development of youth soccer through intercontinental cooperation.
Japan will face the teams in Group 13: Cyprus, Romania, and the Faroe Islands. Although these matches will be held concurrently with the qualifying round’s mini-tournament, they will be friendly matches and will not count toward the Group 13 standings.
Only the matches between Cyprus, Romania, and the Faroe Islands will count toward qualification.
