Brazil failed to rise to the occasion at this year's World Cup, suffering a painful elimination in the Round of 16, following their 2-1 loss to Norway!
A few days after the Seleção’s run came to an end, Vinícius reflected on the experience in a social media post, apologizing to all Brazilians and emphasizing that the team was strong enough to achieve more, while making it clear that he’ll keep fighting for the dream of returning to the top!
Vinícius’s post:
“Almost four years later, and once again I’m wondering what to write after a World Cup disappointment.
I saw so many people of all ages supporting us, embracing our dream, that it would be unfair to remain silent.
But I needed a few days to think.
Wearing the national team jersey is the greatest source of pride in my life, and being eliminated from the World Cup in the round of 16 is a feeling that’s hard to explain.
I know how hard I trained, how focused I was, and how much I wanted this for all of you and for my family.
The feeling of disappointment is overwhelming. We had a team strong enough to achieve more, and we couldn’t do it.
I apologize, and I’ll fight for our dream of returning to the top of the world.”
