Anorthosis has not gotten off to the start it would have liked this season in the Cyprus League by Stoiximan, with the suspension of the league coming at a critical juncture. The team’s morale has taken a hit, especially after their latest 3-0 loss to Nea Salamina, and now Nestor El Maestro has plenty of time ahead of him to work with the team, address their on-field weaknesses, and restore the necessary confidence to the squad.
In the first four matchdays, Anorthosis has suffered three losses and recorded just one win against APOEL, showing that improvement is needed, especially on the defensive end. Unforced errors and a lack of focus at crucial moments in the matches have taken their toll so far.
The break gives the “Lady” coach the opportunity to work on these areas and prepare the team for the difficult match against Paphos on October 11. At Anorthosis, there are no concerns regarding Nemanja Tosic, who is not dealing with anything serious, while Emil Bergström is expected to return to the coach’s roster following his recovery.
At the same time, there will be several absences from Anorthosis’s roster. Kostas Artymatas is with the national team for the Nations League matches, while Dimitrios Tziouliou, Evagoras Charalambous, Andreas Avraam, and Theodoros Kalogerou will be with the younger age groups of our national team.
