France comfortably defeated a Morocco team that was not up to the task, 2-0, and easily advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 World Cup.
Kylian Mbappé, just as he did in 2018 and 2022, has once again led the “Tricolores” by the hand, reaching the semifinals for the third consecutive tournament. The Real Madrid forward scored an incredible goal in the 60th minute, and six minutes later provided the assist for Dembélé’s goal that made it 2-0.
In fact, Didier Deschamps’ team made history, as it became only the third country in the history of the top national team competition to achieve three consecutive semifinal appearances, winning the trophy in 2018 and reaching the final in 2022, joining the ranks of two other legendary national teams.
More specifically, Germany has managed to reach the semifinals three times in a row on two separate occasions: from 1982 to 1990 and from 2002 to 2010; and in the latter period, they reached the semifinals four times, having won the title in 2014.
On the other hand, Brazil has done so once between 1994 and 2002, winning the trophy in both 1994 and 2002. Of course, both countries are… World Cup masters, with the “Seleção” having five titles and the “Mannschaft” four, with France aiming to win its third World Cup, first having to get past Spain or Belgium in the semifinals on Tuesday (July 14, 10:00 p.m.), while in the final (July 19, 10:00 p.m.), if they advance, they will face one of Argentina, Switzerland, England, or Norway.
