AEK is celebrating, Larnaca is celebrating!

The “yellow-and-greens” have reached 102 years of history, while also celebrating the 32nd anniversary of the founding of the Kition Athletic Association (AEK) of Larnaca, through the merger of Pezoporikos and EPA.

History was united. History continues.

July 18 is one of the most important dates in the sporting history of Larnaca.

On July 18, 1994, the Kition Athletic Union (AEK) of Larnaca was founded through the historic merger of Pezoporikos and EPA, the two major clubs of our city. A historic decision that became a reality thanks to the vision, determination, and collaboration of the then-presidents of the two clubs, Dinos Lefkaritis and the late Phoebus Vovidis, who left an indelible mark on the history of Larnaca sports.

Two historic journeys, which began in 1924, merged into a single path. The history, values, tradition, and identity of Pezoporikos and EPA were carried forward through AEK, creating a strong club that has consistently represented Larnaca and its people over the years.

This historic decision marked the culmination of a multi-year effort and expressed the shared desire of the people of Larnaca to join forces under a single banner, with the goal of creating a club that will excel and make our city proud.

Today, AEK marks 32 years since its founding, worthily continuing an unbroken athletic journey spanning 102 years of history.

With respect for the legacy of those who came before us and faith in future generations, we continue to write the next chapters of our Club’s history together.
